One of the most daunting yet equally exciting & rewarding genres in photography is without a doubt Astrophotography. Unfortunately though, it comes with its challenges. Our workshops offer a comprehensive, hands-on approach teaching you how to capture the night sky including the Milky Way, star trails and Lightning.
With over 20 years of experience, you will learn what your equipment is capable of and how to make the most of what you have to get a start on astrophotography, as well as what equipment you may wish to consider in the future. The small group (max 7 participants) setting enables you to get maximum benefit from this workshop.
This is an introductory course to help steer your astrophotography future in the right direction. You get hands-on experience using your camera on-site
we give you everything from the camera settings required, to what lens to use, how to get perfect sharpness in your images, apps we use to help plan and execute shoots, as well as composing & framing your images.
As well as tips & tricks so you have a thorough understanding of how to shoot the Milky Way & come away with the confidence to capture amazing images on your own.

* How to plan/photograph nightscapes and the Milky Way, (including How to find the right location and plan your imaging session Night sky and Milky Way visibility throughout the year)
* How to capture panorama and star-trail techniques
* How to focus to get pin sharp focus of the stars and foreground objects in total darkness.
* Tips and tricks for using creative foreground lighting techniques.
* Advanced capturing technique such as focus stacking, image stacking to reduce noise and exposure blending tips.
* The basics of photography equipment and essentials
* Image pre-processing in Adobe Lightroom CC
* Panoramic image processing

We welcome all skill levels to our workshops, even if you are not confident about how to use your camera in manual mode or you have never shot the night sky before. We keep our group size small to ensure that each participant receives individualised support from myself.
***Weather permitting, we will also have a bonus astrophotography shoot at the conclusion of training.***
